Since 2020, we have therefore been studying, teaching and working in a climate-neutral way - as the first distance learning university worldwide.

For this purpose, we have drawn up our greenhouse gas balance together with TÜV SÜD according to the international specification PAS 2060 – because every lecture room, every trip to the campus and every e-mail causes CO2 emissions. To compensate for these, we support three recognized climate protection projects:

  • Kariba Forest Protection Project
The Kariba project protects the forest areas on the southern coast of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe from deforestation and erosion and develops sustainable economic structures such as ecotourism.
