“Full speed ahead” is the name of the new cooperation between A-ROSA and the IUBH University of Applied Sciences. The university and cruise ship company have a shared goal: to provide event, hotel and tourism management students with practical experience and to develop a network for future graduates. One of the first events took place on Friday, a joint tour of a river cruise ship in Cologne.
Careers at A-ROSA have already begun for some IUBH graduates
“We are very pleased that the cooperation with IUBH is expanding”, says Jennifer Böckmann, Corporate Cruise Manager, and herself one of three IUBH graduates who started working at A-ROSA after graduation. “Due to the increasing demand for river cruises, the A-ROSA Cruise Ship GmbH is continuing to grow. The company is therefore looking for highly qualified young employees, who not only have academic knowledge but also practical understanding of the industry.” The new cooperation will support guest lectures, case studies, internships and excursions such as cruise ship tours.
Career Services provides preparation for a professional life
While according to a university report, only 28 percent of universities work with companies on a regular basis, IUBH’s Career Services is dedicated to supporting students on their way into a professional career. Susanne Dusel, Head of Career Services at IUBH, initiated the cooperation with Böckmann. “The cooperation with A-ROSA expands IUBH’s company network with another important partner in the German tourism industry”, says Dusel. “Now we can support our students on their career pathways even better.”
