Vocational training

The Steigenberger Academy offers various courses that enable professional entry and targeted training for a career in hospitality, gastronomy and tourism.

Since 1948, the Steigenberger Academy has offered training and educational programmes at various levels.  The Steigenberger Academy is in this sense structured like a hotel school.  The students learn with hands-on experience in reception, housekeeping, the school restaurant, and bar keeping as well as the various work stations in the kitchen, including their own patisserie.

Those with a certificate of secondary education that can be equated with the German “Hauptschulabschluss” learn about the rich spectrum of the hospitality industry in theory and practice during a one year vocational training programme.

Those with a certificate of secondary education equivalent to the German “mittlerer Reife” can do a three year vocational training for qualification as Assistant for Hotel and Tourism Management.  In addition to learning about the hotel industry and tourism, the certificate of secondary education equivalent to the German “Fachhochschulreife” is acquired.

Applicants with a secondary school certificate equivalent to the German “Hochschulreife” can strive for the management level through a three year programme leading to a hotel economics degree.  In addition to practical content, business management is taught and there is an option to pursue an international bachelor degree in a one-year post graduation course.

For experienced professionals who have completed vocational training in a gastronomic or tourist profession and have at least 12 months of professional experience, Steigenberger Academy offers professional career prospects.  Hotel management leads graduates into leadership positions with deeper knowledge about the industry and management.  It is possible to follow this with a two year further education programme leading to bachelor degree.

Master course in hospitality, restaurant and kitchen are 14-week further education programmes for professionals with at least three years of professional experience after their apprenticeship exam who want to expand their knowledge and pass it one to those entering the profession.  As a partner with IUBH School of Business and Management and IUBH Dual Studies, the Steigenberger Academy also offers international and dual degree study programmes with a bachelor’s degree in Bad Reichenhall.

The well developed network and reputation of Steigenberger Academy enables graduates first class experience and home and abroad. The educational programmes incorporate different phases of practical experience both within and beyond the Steigenberger Academy.
